Bionic baby

I have of course been living in at least two new countries simultaneously. The other is first-time fatherhood. In the past two weeks, or maybe three, my eight and a bit month boy has suddenly transformed into a Staffordshire Terrier, phenomenal muscle power where before there was none.

He's an explosion of energy and curiosity, making us even more anxious about potential hazards in this not very child friendly flat - apart from the massive long corridor which he almost runs up and down in his beloved Chicco Walker, bought and brought from the UK by his doting grandparents. It costs exactly four times more here (£160 versus £40 from Mothercare).

He bumped his forehead last night and again this morning, both times thanks to lightning fast exploration which his parents failed to catch until too late. Huge panic ensues but thankfully both times he made an equally fast ecovery after a few tears. I wonder how long he's got before Mother Nature starts hardening up that still-malleable skull ?

  1. Even worse than the bruises is the putting every item he encounters in his gob

  2. Oh yes ! But looking for signs that that particular fetish may already have peaked ...

  4. Applying bonjela, now that he's got two bottom front teeth, can be hazardous !

  5. The sucking fetish sadly lasts until age 2. Best to keep a baba with an eagle eye or confine his wanderings to clean places.
